6 Spectacular Things to Do this Weekend in Vancouver: July 26-28

This weekend is all about bikes, so make it your mission to spend as much time on two wheels as possible! We’ve got Critical Mass, Mexican wrestling masks, and so much more.

Check out what’s happening this weekend below and don’t spend your Saturday and Sunday saying “I’m bored, there’s nothing to do”…

Late Night Movies Rio Theatre1. Critical Mass followed by a Late Night Movie

It’s that time of the month again, Critical Mass is taking over the streets of Vancouver at 6pm. Grab a bike and meet at the VAG to take a ride with 100s of your closest friends. Ride on over to the Rio Theatre after, because they’re screening cult hit Party Monster tonight at 11pm. You’ll love it, I promise. (Costumes are encouraged! Only $7 if you dress up!) Caribbean Days Vancouver2. Caribbean Days Festival in North Vancouver

Of all the “days” in Vancouver, Caribbean Day takes the cake as the most colourful, fun, and lively celebration of culture. Sorry Italian, Greek and… all those other days, the Caribbean knows how to party. Take in the parade (starting on July 27th at 10am on Lonsdale) and then spend the rest of the day listening to music, eating, and drinking in the jam-packed beer garden. This free festival takes place at Waterfront Park in North Vancouver and lasts from July 27-28. (Info)

Celebration of Light Vancouver3. Celebration of Light Fireworks

Woop-di-doo, the fireworks are back in town! Hated by most West End residents and loved by suburbunites, teenagers, and tourists, the Celebration of Light blows up the sky on Saturday, July 27th at around 10pm. All the hardcores go to English Bay for front row seats and ShoreFest. Families typically end up on Kits Beach or Vanier Park, and the strong head to Burrard Street Bridge to make sure they have a great view. The UK is the host of Saturday’s fireworks. ShoreFest has Good for Grapes and Serena Ryder playing. (More info)

6. Food Cart Fest & Sunday Bazaar

The food cart fest has been attracting thousands of people every weekend, and now it’s even better. The Eastside Flea market is now a part of the fun, meaning that you can stuff your face and then stuff your house with new clothes/antiques/books and whatever else you can find from the vendors at the Sunday Bazaar. Food Cart Fest takes place every Sunday from 12pm-6pm at 215 West 1st Avenue (between the Cambie Street Bridge and the Olympic Village). The site is next to the Seawall and a short walk from the Canada Line’s Olympic Village Station, the Aquabus’ Spyglass Place Dock, and major bus routes along Broadway, Cambie, Main, West 2nd Avenue.
