Free Unofficial TED Talks Event Tonight at 9PM
TED Talks is the biggest news in Vancouver right now, but with tickets already sold out (at $7,500 a pop), the only way you have a chance of viewing the Talks is via live feeds or YouTube videos. Until now…
Amanda Palmer, of Dresden Doll fame, will be hosting a free event at The Vogue Theatre tonight (March 19, 2014) at 9pm. She’s got connections and is hinting at many weird, and special guests including a handful of scientists and other bizarro TED-speakers…as it currently stands, she has at least one Geoff Berner, one Bora Yoon, one famous Harvard professor, and one astronaut who plays guitar. Celebrated author Neil Gaiman will also likely be there…
This all ages event is not affiliated with TED Talks in any way, which makes it kind of awesome. It’s a little bit disorganized, really spontaneous, and will likely fill the entire Vogue Theatre with 1,100 eager Vancouverites.
If you’re hoping to attend the event, it’s a good idea to get there early. Wristbands will start being handed out at 8:30pm and the show starts at 9pm, running until midnight. Photos and video recording are encouraged, and if you want to share the event via social media, use the hashtag #NINJAvan.
Entry is 100% FREE, but you are encouraged to pay what you can with proceeds going to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank.
Check out the Vogue Theatre’s website for more information about the show.
