Sing Karaoke Any Night of the Week at a Vancouver Bar

Most bars know the key to success lies in a well-run karaoke night. Luckily, Vancouver offers plenty of options for those who love getting trashed and performing on stage in front of a rowdy audience of drunks.

However, the old standard karaoke nights have begun to lose their luster. The new generation of karaoke machine pros and air guitar stars have taken over and introduced such exciting concepts as “Hip Hop Karaoke” and “Punk Rock Karaoke”. Maybe you’ll be there to witness the next Kid Cudi or Kurt Cobain! In any case, Vancouver Bars are offering a place to go and sing your heart out almost every night of the week.

Check out the list of Karaoke Venues in Vancouver to plan your next awkward stage show:

Hip Hop Karaoke @ Fortune Sound Club (Monthly):
More like a talent show than Karaoke, the newest Hip Hop Karaoke (HHK) at Fortune Sound Club has got all the hipsters talking. Currently occurring only once a month (check website for next event), HHK gets brave volunteers (read: crazy) on stage to rap a song with no lyric assistance. If you’re not brave enough, HHK is great just for the show. Watch kids try and fail while others master their chosen lyrics with the same style as the recording artist.

HotRod Skaryoke @ The Asbalt (Thursdays & Sundays):
Loud, Crazy karaoke with over 1, 300 punk rock and metal songs to choose from. Watch out for flying beer bottles and start growing out your hair now to prepare for some great head banging sessions at the Asbalt in the Astoria Hotel. (Karaoke also advertised as available on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday).

More than Just Your Grandparent’s Karaoke Club @ The Legion on Main Street (Wednesday & Saturdays):
I know right… The Legion?? Hanging out with old vets and playing shuffleboard? Heck yes, people! It’s time you discover the relaxing, chilled out-hang out spot that is the Legion. And guess what, of course they have Karaoke. Get your song choice in early, cuz the mic is the hot place to be. Bring in your own food and have a picnic. Play darts or shuffleboard with a fun dude that looks like your grandpa. Cheap drinks, hipsters, hip-replacement surgery conversations, and a whole lot of fun! Get into it.

Live Karaoke Band Karaoke @ Backstage Lounge (Tuesdays)
Rock out on stage with a live band and sing your favorite songs! Every Tuesday night at the Backstage Lounge, hosts Sami and Reuben will take your karaoke experience to the next level! They’ll be playing the instruments, you get to rock out and do your best rock star impression. Choose from hundreds of songs. Doors 8pm – $6 1585 Johnston Street.

Karaoke and Live Shows @ Oasis (Mondays & Tuesdays):
Head to Oasis Ultra Lounge every Monday for their “OFIM” (Oh fuck, it’s Monday) show that features sketch comedy, video, karaoke, drag, cooking, live acts and interviews. So, basically it includes everything. The bar’s small, but the dance floor is bumping. With a name like OFIM, how could you go wrong?

Karaoke @ Numbers Cabaret (Wednesdays):
Check out this nightclub on Wednesday for open Karaoke from 8:30-11:30pm. If you want to keep going with the karaoke, sing your heart out in the Funbox until closing time. Best of all, cover is only $3.

“2007 Best Karaoke Venue by Georgia Straight” @ Hoko Sushi Karaoke Bar:
This sushi/sing bar has a capacity for 100 people and is located near Gastown. The karaoke menu has over 35,000 songs in a variety of languages. They boast a great sound and light system with a piano on stage.

“Best Karaoke in Town” @ Savoy Pub (Fridays?):
It’s cheap, it’s sketchy, it’s got karaoke. This is the kind of dive bar that makes you cringe at the clientele but congratulate yourself over the super cheap drinks. We’re talking $2.75 for pints, $2.00 for shooters and $2.25 for high-balls kind of cheap. When you search this place on Google, news articles like “Man Stabbed in Eye at The Savoy” pop up on the first page. How could you go wrong?

Open Mic Night @ Pat’s Pub (Tuesdays):
Close to Main Street and East Vancouver, this dingy bar has seen a huge increase in the young and eager crowd. Hit up the bar from 9-12 to get on stage or watch some interesting acoustic sets at their weekly open mic night events.
